NDIS PRACTICE STANDARDS
At NDIThrive, every farm program, in-home support, & therapeutic session is delivered in line with the NDIS Code of Conduct. We act with integrity, respect, and transparency toward participants, families, and community — providing supports safely and competently, respecting each participant's right to make informed choices & protecting privacy and dignity while preventing violence, exploitation, neglect, and abuse. This is how families trust NDIThrive as a safe, ethical, person-centred place.
The NDIS Code of Conduct at NDIThrive
The NDIS Code of Conduct is set out in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (Code of Conduct) Rules 2018, made under the NDIS Act 2013, and regulated by the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission. It sets the minimum standard of behaviour expected of everyone who delivers NDIS-funded supports and services — providers, key personnel, and workers alike.
At NDIThrive, the Code isn't just a compliance document — it shapes how we run every farm day, in-home visit, and 1:1 session. Below is a summary of the seven elements of the Code, and how we put each one into practice.
1. Respect for individual rights
The Code requires: Acting with respect for a person's freedom of expression, self-determination, and decision-making, in line with relevant laws and conventions.
How NDIThrive meets this: Every participant's program — whether a farm day, in-home support, or counselling session — is built around their own goals, interests, and choices. Our Participant Rights, Choice, Control and Cultural Diversity Policy guides staff to offer genuine options (which animals to work with, which activities to join, how support is delivered) rather than a one-size-fits-all program, and to respect a participant's right to say no.
2. Respect for privacy
The Code requires: Respecting the privacy of people with disability, including how personal information is collected, stored, and shared.
How NDIThrive meets this: Participant information is stored securely and only accessed by staff directly involved in a person's support. Session summaries and reports shared with external practitioners, plan managers, or support coordinators are provided only with appropriate consent, and our staff are trained to deliver support (including personal care tasks) in a way that protects dignity as well as confidentiality.
3. Safe and competent supports
The Code requires: Providing supports and services in a safe and competent manner, with care and skill.
How NDIThrive meets this: Our farm environment is risk-assessed for each participant, with individual risk assessments reviewed on an ongoing six-monthly cycle. Staff are trained across animal handling, manual handling, first aid, and the specific needs of the participants they support, and all activities — from horticulture in the polyhouse to art centre sessions — are matched to each person's physical and support needs.
4. Integrity, honesty and transparency
The Code requires: Acting with integrity, honesty, and transparency, and disclosing and appropriately managing any conflicts of interest.
How NDIThrive meets this: As a family-operated organisation, we're upfront about our structure — including the relationship between NDIThrive Pty Ltd and NDIThrive Foundation Limited, and any family relationships among directors and staff, which are documented in our Conflict of Interest Policy. Billing is accurate and transparent, with any corrections communicated clearly to participants and plan managers.
5. Raising and acting on quality and safety concerns
The Code requires: Promptly taking steps to raise and act on concerns about matters that might affect the quality or safety of supports provided to any person with disability.
How NDIThrive meets this: NDIThrive has a clear complaints management system, supported by our Incident Management Policy, so that any concern — big or small — is identified, reported, and acted on promptly. Participants, families, and staff can raise a concern about an individual's changing needs (such as terrain, mobility, or toileting support requirements) or about a broader service issue at any time.
Complaints and feedback follow a clear escalation pathway:
→ Main Admin - admin@ndithrive.com.au (seen by 3IC and Directors)
→ Samara Knight (3IC/Executive Assistant) - samara.k@ndithrive.com.au
→ Louise Wotherspoon (2IC/Operations Manager) - louisew@ndithrive.com.au
→ Tracy & Simon Miller (Directors) - tracy.t@ndithrive.com.au, OR with matters escalated to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission where required. Participants and families are also always welcome to raise a concern directly with the NDIS Commission themselves — they are there to help, and contacting them does not require going through NDIThrive first.

6. Preventing violence, exploitation, neglect and abuse
The Code requires: Taking all reasonable steps to prevent and respond to all forms of violence, exploitation, neglect, and abuse of people with disability.
How NDIThrive meets this: All staff undergo relevant screening checks and induction training, and our farm and property are set up with participant safety front of mind — including supervised animal interactions and clear protocols for 1:1 and group supports. Any concerns are treated seriously and acted on immediately in line with our Incident Management Policy.
7. Preventing sexual misconduct
The Code requires: Taking all reasonable steps to prevent and respond to sexual misconduct.
How NDIThrive meets this: NDIThrive maintains clear professional boundaries across all interactions with participants, staff training on appropriate conduct, and a zero-tolerance approach to any form of misconduct — with concerns escalated immediately through our reporting pathway.
NDIThrive Pty Ltd is committed to upholding the NDIS Code of Conduct in everything we do. If you have any questions or concerns about our services, please contact us directly, or reach out to the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission.
